Getting Alone With Others

POINTS TO REMEMBER- GETTING ALONG WITH OTHERS


1.) The six student (people) problem roles are:

   a.  the WET BLANKET- always has a negative attitude
   b. the WHINER- the complainer- sees him/herself as the victim
   c. the BULLY- aggressive, pushy
   d. the GOSSIP- spreads rumors- usually negative
   e. the PERFECTIONIST- has to be perfect! and others do too
   f. the SHEEP- the follower- never sticks up for him/herself


2.) The four keys to getting along with others:

   a. putting yourself in the place of others
   b. accept differences (understand the different styles)
   c. don't expect too much- be tolerant
   d. be willing to compromise


3.) The different styles are:

   a. Structure- little (planned) or lots (totally organized)
   b. Emotion- much or little (reserved)
   c. Sensing- talker, seer, toucher

4.) Learning to compromise is important- take time out to think things through- brainstorm.


5.) To survive in the world we need people skills- getting along with others is vital!
